Tips on how to Volunteer this Holiday season

The Holiday season is a crazy time. Between finding the perfect gift and baking the best holiday treats, find time volunteering to help others. These simple and easy volunteer tips could help a family in your community during these times.

Find a toy drive:

Next time you are at the store, take a trip down the toy aisle. After securing the perfect toy, find your local Toys for Tots location and drop off the gift. You can find your location by clicking here. The primary goal of Marine Toys for Tots is, through the gift of a new toy, to help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s less fortunate children.

Find a canned food drive:

There are many food pantries and shelters that accept canned food donations. According to the North Texas Food Bank, The goal is to provide access to 105 million nutritious meals to hungry children, families, and seniors in our community. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the need for food assistance will only continue to grow. Find out how to donate by clicking here.

Sponsor an Angel:

This is one of the best ways you could possibly donate. Sponsoring an angel helps provide a Christmas gift for those I need. According to The Salvation Army, recognizing that every child deserves to feel the joy of Christmas, The Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides new clothing and toys to more than one million children and families in need each year. You can find your local tree by clicking here.

Serve meals at a local soup kitchen:

Volunteering at a soup kitchen will help feed those that need a warm meal. Homeless shelters can get packed during the Holiday season, so volunteers are always welcome. To find a soup kitchen near you click here.
